Calculating Resistor Value

As you can see calculating your resistor value isn't that complicated. Each bar either represents a digit, multiplies the value by a power of 10 or indicated it's tolerance. Knowing the value of your resistor is an important skill, so always refer back to here when needed.

The lazy way...

I only recommend using this if you don't have a chart (like the image above) or if the resistor is unreadable. Using this approach is error prone and you have to be careful of the units you're using.

Most likely you'll have an ohm meter in your lab. Simply set it to the correct units of resistance and touch both sides to get your measurement.
