I got an error when I compared my schematic to my PCB layout.

This would result if you made an additional or incorrect connection, selected the wrong schematic or anything else that would differ fromt he schematic. In any case, you can always go to File> renew design from schematic> by component. This may or may not help. Otherwise, you will just have to look at you design to see what you did wrong.

I made a mistake on one of the components, how do I fix it without redoing the schematic or layout?

First fix the mistake using the component and pattern editor. Then in the schematic editor, right click on the component and select update from library> component type. Now in the layout manager go to File> renew design from schematic> by component. That should fix it.

The resistor values aren't correct on PCB layout, how do I fix it?

Often this is the result of selecting multiple components and setting them all to show their value (diptrace isn't perfect). To fix this just go to File> renew design from schematic> by component.

The number on the pins won't go away on some of the components, how do I remove them?

If the pin numbers are still showing despite the fact you have "show pin numbers" not selected, then the reason is that you have show pin numbers selected in another editor. Both the component and schematic editor have this option. make sure both are not selected.

I'm having trouble placing the traces / components the way I want them to be placed

Having a grid is an excellent way to accurately place your traces or components, but if the grid is too big, trying to place anything in a small area becomes impractical. If you are having this trouble, simply go to view> grid size and select a smaller size.
